What can I do while I am in Ecuador? This is probably one of the most often asked questions whenever a person is advised to go to Ecuador. Aside from being a country in South America, nothing much is known about this country apart from South Americans. In some cases, "what to do in Ecuador?" is even replaced by the question, "where is Ecuador?" This is not really surprising. Ecuador, along with many other countries in South America, has so much to offer in terms of tourist attractions. From the natural to the historical, Ecuador is considerably lucky to have so much assets that its citizens can be truly proud of--and you are missing a lot by not knowing enough about this country and the things that you can do. But that's why we are here to tell you about the numerous places to visit and activities to try out while you are here in Ecuador. Like in any other country, you can start out with the national capital, Quito . Normally, for destinations whose main selling point are nature adventures, tourists are advised to spend as little time as possible in the capital city because these metropolitan areas are supposedly the same. Not with Quito. The capital city of Ecuador is a major regional tourist hub. The city is famous for its colonial past, which left it with cobblestone roads, large and grand churches, and an overall architecture to be proud of. Some describe it as going to Europe in the middle of South America. Maybe Europe is not your type, but mix it with a flavor of Ecuador and you might reconsider. From the capital, you can already spread out and plan your vacation as you wish. Go to the La Mitad del Mundo and cross the equator. Go shopping in Otavalo and see for yourself the city's prized indigenous textile market. Cross the Devil's Nose in Riobamba while on top of a passenger train and feel completely free for the very first time. Or maybe you need to get off the mainland and land instead on Puerto Ayora in the Galapagos Islands ? An Ecuadorian vacation is only as good as you make it.
